Built in 1734 by the renowned Armenian trader Manvel Hazaar Maliyan, the Armenian Ghat stands as a testament to the Armenian community's impactful contributions to Kolkata's development. This elegant ferry ghat, also known as Armani Ghat, adorned the Hooghly river bank with its cast iron structure, serving as a crucial pier for merchants involved in the spice-to-jewelry trade. The ghat served as a hub for bathing, worship and historical events in addition to being a means of transportation. From 1854 to 1874, Eastern Railways' Calcutta Station was located there. Armenian Ghat used to be a bustling historical site, but these days its rich heritage has faded and has been replaced by an unexpected outdoor gym.
