7 Offbeat Monsoon Getaways from Mumbai/Pune ☔🌈⛈️ 1. Bhandardara: Popular as a camping spot and referred to as the Queen of Sahyadri ranges, this lush green quaint village is located around 166 kms from Mumbai which makes for the perfect weekend getaway. 2. Bordi :We visited Bordi village in 2010 during our annual church youth camp located around 130 kms from Mumbai which makes for the perfect weekend getaway. It is slowly gaining prominence due to its beaches and natural environment. This village comes to life during monsoons and it is a treat to experience the lush green everywhere. 3. Matheran - Located around 90 kms from Mumbai and 120 kms from Pune, this hill station is frequently visited all throughout the year. The nearest railway station is Neral and thereforth you can take a sharing cab/rickshaw till Dasturi after which you will have to walk along the mud track which will be around 30 mins to an hour as Matheran is a no-automobile hill station. 4. Igatpuri - Nestled amongst Sahyadri mountain range, this hill station town is located around 120 kms from Mumbai. Igatpuri is the go to weekend getaway when it comes to trekking, chasing waterfalls and camping. 5. Malshej - Situated around 105 kms,it is just a mere 2 hrs drive from Mumbai. Located at a height of 700 metres above the sea level, this ghat is dotted by numerous waterfalls and is a treat to one's eyes. The cool weather, spicy roasted bhutta, onion and potato fritters and garma garam Chai are your perfect companions while enjoying the captivating panaromas. 6. Lavasa- Tucked away around 187 kms from Mumbai and around 60 kms from Pune, this private planned hillcity definitely makes for the perfect getaway during monsoons. We visited Lavasa 2 years back during monsoons and it was an absolute treat to the eye. This laid back town charms you with its modern infrastructure surrounded by lakes and lush green hills. 7. Saputara - Saputara is situated about 1000 metres above sea level, part of the Dang district on the Maharashtra - Gujarat border. This tiny hillstation has a population of around 3000 and the weather here is pleasant throughout the year but we absolutely recommend it.
