All about Ooty Toy Train in India🚂 🔸Nilgiri mountain railway is one of the steepest railways not just in India but in Asia as well. 🔸It is a major tourist attraction in the queen of hill station - Ooty in Tamil Nadu 🔸Listed as UNESCO World Heritage site, it's the slowest train running at a speed of 10.4 km/hour. 🔸Proposed in 1854, the construction was delayed due to its challenging steep mountainous terrain and it was as finally completed in 1908. 🔸Total train duration from Ooty (Udagamandalam) to Mettupalayam is 5 hours (46 kms) covering 16 tunnels, over 200 bridges offering stunning views of misty hills, beautiful lakes and old colonial houses. Route: Mettupalayam - Kallar - Adderley - Hillgrove - Runnymede - Coonoor -Aravankadu - Wellington - Ketti - Lovedale - Udagamandalam 🔸If your short on time, then you can take the 1 hr ride from Ooty to Coonoor or vice versa. 🔸Make sure to book the tickets in advance (approx 2 weeks prior) on IRCTC railway app. Window seat is not guaranted though. Ticket prices are Rs. 350 per person for First class and Rs. 150 per person for General. 🔸Train timings: - 4 trains run daily from Ooty to Coonoor: 9.15 am, 12.15 pm, 2 pm and 5.30 pm - 4 trains run daily from Coonoor to Ooty: 7.45 am, 10.40 am, 12.35 pm and 4 pm - 1 train runs from Ooty to Metupalaiyam and vice versa and ticket prices are General Rs. 295 and First class Rs. 600 (2 pm and 7.10 am) 🔸All trains run on time so reach the railway station atleast 10-15 mins prior. 🔸Station codes as below: Udagamandalam (UAM), Lovedale (LOV), Ketti (KXT),Wellington (WEL), Aravankadu (AVK), Coonoor (ONR), Runnymede (RNMD), Hillgrove (HLG), Adderley (ADRL), Kallar (QLR), Metupalaiyam (MTP) 🔸Best time to visit: All months except rainy season i.e June-sep ✨Pro tips: Try to get the right side window seat if travelling from Ooty to Coonoor and you will thank us later 😍 If you're planning for Coonoor, then suggest to take the morning train from Ooty at 9.15 am reach Coonoor by 10.20 am, explore Coonoor and then return to Ooty by the 4 pm train.
