Vyshnavi's Post

Vijayadasaru was one of the Haridasas of 18th century. He was one of the disciples of Sri Purandaradasaru. His 25000+ compositions has earned him the title of “Dasa Shreshtha”. Unlike his guru who was predominantly known for composing simple Kannada songs, Vijaya Dasaru’s compositions are heavily cladded with Sanskrit words which come under the category of Kalasha and Urasu creations and are considered an important component of Kannada literature. He is also credited for starting the tradition of singing devotional songs while walking up Tirumala hills (which is how I started singing too 😂. Pardon my self plug-in.) I personally love singing his compositions. I love the way the words sound. Also I apologise for making a mistake while singing the lyrics of the last stanza. Instead of “Adhama Shashtra”, I have sung it as “Agama Shashtra”. I’ll probably re-record this at a later stage.
