NS Raja Subramani has been appointed as the next Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India. He will also serve as Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs upon assuming office. He is set to succeed Anil Chauhan, who is scheduled to retire on May 30, 2026. Lt Gen Raja Subramani currently serves as Military Adviser at the National Security Council Secretariat and has previously held key positions including Vice Chief of Army Staff and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Central Command.
