Through the rivalry between advocate Kalyan and Assistant Police Commissioner Rudran, the novel explores how pride, ambition, and the need to prove oneself can slowly damage relationships, blur the line between justice and victory, and make people lose sight of what truly matters. While the courtroom battles keep the story engaging, what stayed with me the most were the emotional moments. I particularly loved Lakshmi’s character and the way she helped her children understand the value of a homemaker, reminding us that the work done within a home deserves just as much respect as the work done outside it. With strong character development, family dynamics, legal drama, and thought-provoking themes, Egoist is a compelling reminder that sometimes our greatest opponent is not the person standing across from us, but the ego within ourselves.
