Well… 40! 😄❤️ What a weekend, what a celebration, and what a reminder of how lucky I am. Thank you to everyone who called, texted, showed up, danced, laughed, and made this milestone birthday so special. Turning 40 feels a lot less dramatic when you’re surrounded by the people you love. A special shoutout to @defectiveperspective thank you for putting in your 300 per cent on my birthday, every year! I dunno how you do it but you manage to outdo every wish and expectation! Love you endlessly. And to Som — thank you for always backing my crazy ideas, making me feel loved, and somehow keeping up with me all these years. ❤️ To Namrata — thank you for making the trek on a rainy night, despite living an hour and a half away. To Megha — thank you for somehow managing to be there while solo parenting. To my girls — thank you for always standing by me and being my rock. Through every high and low, all my craziness and eccentricity and now a long-distance friendship, you have carried me more than you realise. To Maa and Baba, thank you for making the trip every year to celebrate my birthday with me and for making the chaler paayesh and 5 rokomer bhaja. To my in-laws who make sure I get to eat two bowls of payesh on my birthday! And finally, to my tiny offspring - Koons, you tested every ounce of patience this weekend, but you still managed to make Mama’s birthday extra special. I wouldn’t have it any other way. ❤️ To Didi who hasn’t missed a single midnight cake-cutting session from whichever corner of the world you are in. To my BFF in London, who makes sure she gets me the most thoughtful gifts. Yo everyone who took out time and thought of me, your effort means the world! The older I get, the more I realise that life’s greatest gift isn’t the places we go or the things we have, it’s the people who show up, again and again. My cup is full, my heart is fuller, and I’m walking into this new decade feeling incredibly grateful. Here’s to 40. Let’s see what this decade has in store. 🥂
