In a traditional Bengali wedding, the bride being carried to the wedding platform (the chhadnatola — the Bengali equivalent of the mandap) is called Saat Paak (সাত পাক) and is one of the most iconic rituals. Here’s what happens: • The bride sits on a low wooden stool called a piri. • Her brothers, cousins, or maternal uncles traditionally lift and carry her around the groom seven times (Saat Paak = seven circles). • During this, the bride usually covers her face with betel leaves (paan pata). • After the seven circles comes Shubho Drishti — the dramatic first ceremonial eye contact between bride and groom when she removes the leaves and they look at each other. #bengali #viral #explorepage #fyp #bengalibride
