I have always been fascinated by what a Human Body can achieve. 🏋️♂️ Over the last few years I have read quite a few books on fitness, on pushing your body to its limits, testing resilience but THIS book, by far has stood out as one of my favourites. 🤟For example, Do you know the 40% Rule: When your brain screams, “I’m done, I can’t go any further,” you’re usually only at about 40% of your actual physical capacity. Your brain is just trying to protect you, but you can train yourself to override that alarm system. 🤟 Resilience isn’t something you’re born with: It’s a muscle. A MUSCLE 💪🏼 You build it by willingly stepping into uncomfortable situations and learning how to tolerate them. I have done this, time and again in the past and it makes you strong as fuck! Mentally 🧠 and Physically 🧍♀️ 🤟The Art of Resilience is about the author ( Ross Edgley) who decided to do something completely crazy: swim 1,780 miles all the way around Great Britain without ever setting foot on dry land. He spent 157 days in the freezing ocean, swimming up to 12 hours a day. He got stung in the face by a giant jellyfish 🪼 and swam through water so salty his tongue literally started falling apart. 🌊 But the book isn’t just a diary of suffering. Ross uses his crazy swim as a giant science experiment to answer a simple question: How much can the human body actually take if the mind refuses to quit? THATS WHAT FASCINATES ME!
