పురాణాల ప్రకారం ఒకసారి దుర్గమాసురుడు అనే రాక్షసుడు దేవతలను జయించి, వేదాలను అపహరించాడు. వేదాలు లేకపోవడంతో యజ్ఞాలు, వర్షాలు ఆగిపోయాయి. భూమిపై తీవ్రమైన కరువు ఏర్పడింది. చెట్లు, పంటలు ఎండిపోయాయి. జీవజాలం ఆకలితో అలమటించింది. ప్రజల బాధను చూసిన పార్వతి దేవి కరుణతో కన్నీరు కార్చింది. ఆ కన్నీటి బిందువులే వర్షాలుగా కురిశాయి. అనంతరం ఆమె శాకంబరి దేవి రూపంలో ప్రత్యక్షమై తన శరీరం నుంచే ఆకుకూరలు, కూరగాయలు, పండ్లు, ఔషధ మొక్కలు, ధాన్యాలను ఉత్పత్తి చేసి ప్రపంచాన్ని పోషించింది. తర్వాత దుర్గమాసురుడిని సంహరించి వేదాలను తిరిగి దేవతలకు అందించింది. అందుకే ఆమెను శాకంబరి దేవి అని పూజిస్తారు. #sakambaridevi #durgamma #royalcityvijayawada #vijayawadadiaries #kanakadurga_vijayawada
