Neurosurgeons (और बाकी surgeons) surgery से पहले लगभग 5 minutes तक hand scrub इसलिए करते हैं क्योंकि यह एक standard surgical protocol है जो infection के risk को कम करने के लिए बनाया गया है। 🧠🧼 यहाँ असली कारण समझिए: 1. Bacteria को हटाने के लिए हमारी skin पर हजारों bacteria होते हैं। Normal handwash से सब नहीं हटते। 5-minute surgical scrub deep cleaning करता है जिससे bacteria की संख्या बहुत कम हो जाती है। 2. Brain surgery बहुत sensitive होती है Neurosurgery में brain और spinal cord expose होते हैं। अगर infection हो जाए तो यह patient के लिए बहुत dangerous हो सकता है। इसलिए extra sterile environment जरूरी होता है. 3. Nails, fingers और forearms की proper cleaning इस protocol में सिर्फ hands नहीं, बल्कि fingernails, fingers, palm, wrist और forearms भी specific technique से साफ किए जाते हैं। इसमें समय लगता है, इसलिए 5 minutes का guideline रखा गया है। 4. Sterile operating field maintain करना Surgery के दौरान surgeons sterile gloves पहनते हैं, लेकिन gloves 100% protection नहीं देते। इसलिए पहले से bacterial load कम करना जरूरी होता है। 5. International surgical safety standards Hospitals में WHO और surgical infection control guidelines के अनुसार pre-surgical scrub time निर्धारित होता है, ताकि हर surgery safe रहे। Simple words में: 5 minutes का scrub = infection risk कम + surgery safe.
