Theyyam is something everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime. Let me help you plan and experience Theyyam the right way ✔️ Check “DTPC Kannur” website for complete details - dates, locations, temple names, taluk, contact numbers, and types of Theyyam. Plan your trip accordingly ✔️ Reach Kannur by train or bus from your location. ✔️ Book a hotel close to the Theyyam venue. Avoid staying too far away, as most performances happen late night or early morning. ✔️ For bike rentals, we got ours for ₹700 per day, @too.bikes very convenient to travel between temples. ✔️ Reach the location at least one hour early to truly soak in the vibe - the traditional chenda melam, temple atmosphere, rituals… experience every moment. ⚠️ Always take permission from temple authorities before recording content, especially close-up shots. Some performers or temple members may not appreciate excessive filming. In my case, I politely requested them, and they allowed me to capture the face painting and performance. 🚫 Avoid standing directly in front for photos or videos. Respect the ritual space. 🌿 Do not litter.
