#Bookreview: Sindh Bani by Sarla Kripalani published by @rupa_publications : A captivating combination of customs, culture, witty proverbs, homely recipes and stories encompassing the essence of the land paints the beautiful potrait of Sindh Bani.The personal stories are filled with the memories of the past, traditions, nursery rhymes and much more breathed life into the book.The treasure trove of witty Sindhi proverbs is my favourite part of the book.The detailed study of the Sindhworki apprenticeship system made me realise the competitive business spirit of the community and how the lack of education is one of primary cause of their decline.The state of employees bound by an agreement working under Sethias shocked me deeply. The engaging commentary on the community made me visit the pre-partion Karachi lanes, the grand Havelis of Zamindars and introduced me to loyal Hurs.Written in layman language, the detailed study on the Sindhi culture and community kept me glued till the end.
