Heritage is the new avant-garde and Isha Ambani proved it. She curated the most expensive gallery for the “Fashion is Art” theme of the Met Gala 2026. She didn’t just wear a saree, she wore a legacy, woven with gold and dripping in over 1,800cts of brilliance and a bejewelled blouse that featured pieces from the private collection of her mother, Nita Ambani and her own... And she has done this before!! 2 years ago, she wore a blouse full of vintage jewels for her brother’s pre-wedding celebrations, designed by Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla... and this time, it was brought to life by Kantilal Chhotalal, with 200+ old mine-cut diamonds hand-sewn directly into the metallic zardozi work. For someone who is in awe of Madam Nita Ambani’s jewellery collection, I was elated to see it take centre stage as part of the blouse Isha wore which was conceptualised for the daughter by the mother. The entire look was anchored by a staggering 1,800cts, including rare emeralds, polki and kundan. She layered this with graduated diamond necklaces totalling over 250cts. The look included deeply personal pieces, including gifts received when her kids were born, proving that high fashion can be high emotion, too. This was a masterclass in living your inheritance.
