I started my retinoid journey with adapalene and then switched to tretinoin (with Isotretinoin); under professional guidance. I didn’t experience much irritation when i was using adapalene but tretinoin + Isotretinoin were literal hell for my skin. I have oily to combination skin but my skin was dry as a dessert during that phase. This phase is actually called “RETINIZATION PERIOD”. It’s the adjustment period in which skin adapts to retinoid treatment. Can experience purging, dryness, scaling, redness and burning/ stinging sensation. Following are the products that helped me get through that phase: 1. Cetaphil cleanser 2. Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 3. Rovectin Skin Essential Activating Treatment - this is a toner + essence. Perfect for dehydrated skin. 4. Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask 5. Avene Cicalfate Repair Cream 6. First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream Here are some tips to minimise irritation: 1. Start slow 2. Use sandwich method (moisturiser- retinoid- moisturiser) 3. Keep your skincare routine minimal 4. Don’t use physical scrubs or chemical exfoliants for a while Disclaimer: Tretinoin (retino-A) is a prescription based retinoid. Do not purchase and use it without any professional guidance. . . . . . #retinoid #purging #irritatedskin #retinolskincare #skincaretips
