They come from the family of Ramnam mitra who was dewan of Nawab of Murshidabad .Their old house was in Konnagar . Ramsundar Mitra amassed huge fortune by lending money. It was said that he even lended money on interest to Lord Clive. ⁣ ⁣ The big house with six large pillars at the entrance bear testimony to the Gothic architecture.
