Straight from a mother's heart...do read till end. Sharing a true incident happened recently. So, Raj went to his friends house for a playdate and this was not his first time. Things went smoothly and both the kids played Lego and we're building a castle. Somehow, by mistake, the castle fell down because Raj's hand touched it accidently. The friends whose house they were playing, started shouting at him and that friend held Raj's hand and twisted it a bit. After few mins, he came back home and first thing he said to me was " aje ramva ni maja na avi mumma" ( today I didn't enjoyed playing). I was busy in multiple things at that moment but somehow my motherly instinct urged me to be with him and talk to him..Upon digging further he mentioned about the entire incident and said had it happened at our home, I would have been confident enough to ask that friend to stop because you would be around. This reminded me of the day of my wedding when during final see off, both my parents whispered into my ears that "No matter what, we will always be with you, we will always believe you and you can count on us anytime, anywhere. Physically, we might not be with you but Emotionally we shall always be together ". That statement gave me the confidence to go and stay at a new place with completely new people and till date in hard times, I always remember that statement and it gives me strength to face situations which life throws. Same thing, I said to Raj and that empowered him and boosted his confidence. It is so important for our children to know how much they matter to us, how much their emotional well-being matters to us and more importantly how much we as parents can always be their solid rock and home to come back to. In this world full of materialistic and blingy things, these little hearts and minds seek us as their anchor. So, it's okay to leave 10 other things just to be with them when they need us the most. The satisfaction we feel after doing so is unmatched to any professional or personal excellence. Would love to hear and learn about your similar experiences as parents in comments below. Do you agree mamma's and pappa's?
