This is my first book of You-Jeong Jeong, one of the top crime thriller authors from Korea. It's a domestic crime thriller with tight psychological aspects, choking, breathtaking creepy ambiance created layers and a lot of expectations from the beginning. Yuna Shin a covert narcissist takes dig into everyone's life, be it her husband or sister, she is indifferent with her own offspring too. Impeccably manipulative treatment she offers everyone in her life, her all tactical steps are well articulated and deeply disturbing. Yuna has a pattern, all narcissist have pattern, they are well capable of understanding vulnerability in person and a knack for picking them in life with utmost care. She is beautiful as a fairytale princess to lure her victims and later totally different. The book is brilliantly portrayed atmospheric depiction, creepy at psychological pictorial narration, all characters are at great suffering from her and totally doomed, only her sister has left a little brain to offer resistance to Yuna Shin's charades and she started exploring Yuna's secrets, slowly her current husband also started noticing the venomous soul inside the beautiful face of Yuna. The story narrated from multiple perspectives and very raw and intense without any monologue stream which makes this book different. First few chapters was truly brilliant, horrific but after that it felt bizzare and repeatative. I only loved the child's perspective, it was always raw and masterly crafted the immense fear and her deep psychological wounds. The translation could be better, many places it feels offbeat, need a little more imagination power from the translator. Have you read any korean horror story?
