🌱 Grow Your Own Garlic 🧄 and Never Buy It Again! 🌱 Garlic is one of the simplest plants to grow and an excellent choice for saving seeds. Now’s the perfect time to plant garlic if you’re in the UK or similar climates. 🧄✨ Not only does garlic fill up your garden beds during winter, but it also takes minimal space and grows beautifully alongside many other crops. 🧄🌱🍅 The Two Main Types of Garlic: 1️⃣ Hard-neck Garlic: Best for cooler climates or outdoor growing. It features a rigid stalk and produces delicious scapes that can be eaten. 2️⃣ Soft-neck Garlic: Ideal for warmer climates or growing under cover. It produces more cloves and stores for longer. 💡 Planting Tips: Avoid store-bought garlic as it may carry disease or be treated with anti-sprouting agents. 🛑 Break up the bulb into cloves and plant pointy end up, about 2.5 cm below the soil surface and 12 cm apart. You can plant garlic in pots, containers, raised beds, or directly in the ground—don’t forget to mulch with compost! 🪴 ⏳ What to Expect: After 8–9 months, you’ll have plenty of fresh garlic to enjoy! Remove the scapes from hard-neck varieties to promote larger bulbs. Harvest from July onwards when the top growth starts to die back.
