Gjirokaster, which is popularly known as the "Stone City" is located in southern Albania. 2 prominent places to visit in Gjirokaster are : The Gjirokaster castle or fortress - its a huge fortress and is situated at a prominent height, giving a panoramic view of the city. The old town of Gjirokaster - it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. It has Ottoman style architecture and a bazaar that dates back to the 17th century. Very pretty with cobbled streets lined with cost cafes/restaurants.
