Meet the stomach fluke (Calicophoron daubneyi), a fascinating little parasite which, as an adult, dwells in the stomachs (rumen) of cattle (and sometimes goats). Pictured above is a sizable infection of these chubby little parasites which are pink blobs nestled along the brown/orange folds of the stomach lining. Like other flukes, these parasites spend there immature lives within a snail before emerging, coming to rest on some vegetation (often grass), before being chomped up by a hungry host. Although Calicophoron daubneyi is a pest species in livestock production systems, it's still an incredible species and worthy of our fascination (even if it makes your skin crawl a little bit!)😁 🆔 @med_dreams0 #explorepage✨ #explore #exploremore #medical #neet #notes
