𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗗𝗼 𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗺𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗭𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀? 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮 "𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲"! Someone suggests a new approach. Before they can even finish explaining, the manager jumps in: "What if it doesn't work? What if customers don't like it? What if we waste resources? Have you thought through all the risks?" 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗴𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀. Next meeting, same thing happens. And the next one. Soon, 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘀𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 anything remotely creative. They stick to the safe, proven, boring approaches. The manager thinks they're being "responsible" and "careful." But here's what they've actually created: 𝗔 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝗼 𝗮𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝘃𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄. Meanwhile, across the hall, there's a different kind of leader. When someone presents a wild idea, their first response is: "𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴! What would we need to test this safely? How could we try this on a small scale first?" 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? One leader's first instinct is to find problems. The other's first instinct is to find possibilities. In that second team, people are constantly experimenting. Some ideas fail spectacularly - and that's celebrated as learning. Some ideas create breakthrough results that transform the business. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? 𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆. That's what this Quote means: "𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗙𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴." #leadership #chro #corporateemployees #managers #corporateculture #hrmanagers #ceo #peoplefirst #peoplefirstacademy #peoplemanager #workplaceculture
