The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has said it will move the Supreme Court to challenge the Delhi High Court’s order suspending the sentence of former BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is serving a life term in the 2017 Unnao rape case. CBI officials said the agency has examined the order passed by a division bench of the high court and decided to file a special leave petition before the Supreme Court at the earliest. The agency added that it had strongly opposed Sengar’s bail plea before the Delhi High Court, along with the victim’s family, citing security concerns and alleged threats.
