Dinner at Kim Fa, Tangra — Kolkata’s OG Chinatown Experience 🥢 I swear, this 65-year-old spot in Tangra — Kolkata’s very own Chinatown — has to be one of my all-time favourites. Tucked just behind the Chinese Kali Temple, Kim Fa has been serving authentic, no-frills Indo-Chinese since the 1950s — long before “Chinese” became a citywide craze. The décor hasn’t changed much, the chairs still creak, and the walls smell faintly of soy and wok smoke — but that’s exactly what makes it real. Every plate that leaves this kitchen carries decades of flavour, family stories, and Kolkata nostalgia. ❤️ — 🍜 What You MUST Try (based on our visit + local legends): 🥣 Soup • Thai Soup — light, tangy, the perfect start. 🔥 Starters • Chilli Chicken (Boneless) – soft, juicy, signature Tangra bite. • Ginger Prawns / Ginger Chicken – smoky, spiced, perfectly balanced. • Chilli Fish – crisp edges, rich soy glaze. • Kim Fa Special Chicken – old recipe, pure nostalgia. 🍚 Main Course • Special Mixed Fried Rice – wok-tossed, slightly caramelised with jaggery & soy. • Special Chow Mein (Hakka Style) – chewy noodles, full-flavoured sauce. • Steamed Rice + Ham Choi + Char Sui – the authentic combo that locals swear by. • Prawn Fried Rice / Mixed Steam Rice – comfort food at its best. 📍Kimfa, Tangra, beside Chinese Kali Temple (Google Maps) l Open till 11 pm 🥢 Hidden Gem: Ask for their homemade noodles — they actually make it in-house, and the texture is unlike anything you’ll find elsewhere.
