This is called Bella Tarai da Gatti. What do you call this in Kannada? Tell me in the comments. To make this, you need turmeric leaf or Wild Jack tree leaf. We have used Wild Jack leaf here. Soak red rice for 3 hours and grind it into a smooth paste. Grate jaggery and coconut and keep it ready. Apply the red-rice paste on the leaf evenly. Add the grated coconut and jaggery mix on top. Fold the leaf gently. Repeat the same process with all the leaves you have. Place all the folded leaves in an idli steamer and cook for 20–30 minutes. Once done, open the leaf and you’ll get a soft, aromatic sweet with the natural flavour of the leaf. It’s a very simple traditional recipe and one of my personal favourites. Try it and let me know how you liked it and what you call this dish in your place.
