I didn’t just lose a pet. I lost a soul. A family member. A little brother who chose me every single day. You taught me how to love. How to laugh. How to walk without fear, run freely on beaches, and find joy in the simplest moments. You showed me how to enjoy the sun and the rain, how to live in the present, and how to love people without conditions. You taught me how to live life fully. And most importantly, you showed me how to choose and love those who choose and love you, and to show it every single day. You taught me more than any human ever could. You meant the world to me. When the time came, I knew I had to let you go, even though my heart wasn’t ready. With a heavy heart, I said goodbye. It’s been four years, and the ache still feels the same. I know you’ve found your way back home, reunited with your big brother Tom, and the little ones who followed. I know you’re together again, somewhere gentler, happier, and whole.
