You Had Me at Annyeong by @thefootiegirl Malini Banerjee is one of those light, warm, wonderfully chaotic stories that remind you how unpredictable life can be. Sometimes you just need to go with the flow, hold on to the people you love, and let the universe do its thing. I’ve never been a K-drama fan; in fact, I usually run in the opposite direction, but this book pulled me right in, into its world of colour, romance, and unpredictability. Or maybe it simply added the perfect amount of drama to my life. If I had to describe this book in one line, I would say: a book with many flavours. The journey begins with Timira, an Indian PR consultant whose life spirals after a complicated situation with her ex-boyfriend Rodrigo, a superstar footballer. Heartbroken, confused, and with no plan ahead, she quits her job and lets her best friends take her to Bali. A lost bag, a stranger who returns it, a missing visiting card and a single moment that changes everything. A moment Timira forgets, but Haneul never does. Set in Bombay, Bali, and Seoul, the story instantly pulls you in with its vivid, vibrant backdrop, each city adding its own shade of glam and allure. From India to Seoul, Timira’s journey unfolds in a way that feels both cinematic and deeply personal. With an exciting, layered plot and a crisp, descriptive narrative, Malini weaves a story with themes of love, friendship, romance, relationships, childhood traumas, office politics, rivalry, and lots of drama. It has twists we never saw coming, making us smile throughout. Malini Banerjee writes with an engaging, visual flow that makes you feel every bit of Timira’s chaos.
