here’s the thing about me. most days, it feels like a blessing. the way i can recall the smallest details. but on other days, it feels like a burden, especially on days when nostalgia doesn’t arrive gently. like when i came across this picture i took in turkey last year. i still remember everything about that day as if it’s happening now: I remember / what i wore, how i clicked this picture while impatiently waiting for any vehicle to pass so i could hitchhike to the nearby beach, the name of the song playing in my ears, the fuchsia pink bougainvillea flowers glowing under the sun, the look of the grandmother who walked by, probably wondering why i was there all alone, and how i nibbled my favourite turkish chocolate while capturing the flowers and cats around me. sometimes i wish i didn’t remember so much, because carrying all these tiny memories feels like a weight pressing on the heart, a quiet pain that makes me wonder when i’ll meet that version of me again.
