
“Bhakti should not be marketed.” This is something we hear very often today. But interestingly, Shri Krishna Himself praises those who share His message. In Bhagavad Gita 18.68–69, Krishna says: “ya idaṁ paramaṁ guhyaṁ mad-bhakteṣv abhidhāsyati bhaktiṁ mayi parāṁ kṛtvā mām evaiṣyaty asaṁśayaḥ” “na ca tasmān manuṣyeṣu kaścin me priya-kṛttamaḥ” Meaning: “One who explains this supreme knowledge to others becomes very dear to Me. Among all human beings, there is no one more dear to Me than the person who shares My message.” This understanding was also beautifully explained by Shri Rupa Goswami, the great Vaishnava acharya in front of whom Shri Govind Dev Ji (Currently in Jaipur) manifested in Vrindavan. In his book Bhakti-rasamrita-sindhu (1.2.255) he explains the principle of Yukta-Vairagya: “anāsaktasya viṣayān yathārham upayuñjataḥ nirbandhaḥ kṛṣṇa-sambandhe yuktaṁ vairāgyam ucyate” Meaning: Real renunciation does not mean rejecting the world. It means using everything in this world—without attachment—in relation to Krishna. So microphones, cameras, podcasts, and even social media can become instruments of bhakti when they are used in Krishna’s service. Maybe the question is not: “Should spirituality be shared on modern platforms?” The real question is: Are we using these platforms for our ego — or for Krishna’s message?
