Raaz (2002) is an Indian supernatural horror film directed by & Vikram Bhatt and produced by & Mahesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films. It stars Bipasha Basu and Dino Morea as a couple who retreat to Ooty to save their marriage, only to be haunted by a vengeful spirit. The film became a major commercial success and is regarded as a landmark in Hindi horror cinema, emerging as the second-highest-grossing film of 2002¹2. The story centers on Sanjana and Aditya, whose holiday in Ooty turns into a nightmare when Sanjana hears a woman's screams and discovers dark secrets about Aditya's past. It was an unofficial adaptation of & What Lies Beneath and marked the start of the Raaz film series, followed by sequels in 2009, 2012, and 2016 ¹³. The soundtrack by Nadeem-Shravan was also widely praised. There are earlier Indian films titled Raaz as well, including the 1967 romantic thriller with & Rajesh Khanna and the 1981 thriller starring Raj Babbar 45.
