Silly habits that surprisingly make you more appreciated at work. These might sound ridiculous, but they've made me the person everyone wants to work with. Sometimes the smallest gestures create the biggest impact. Here are my "silly" workplace habits that actually work: → I always bring extra phone chargers to meetings. Sounds random, but when someone's phone dies during an important call, guess who becomes the hero? People remember who saves the day. → I keep a stash of good pens at my desk and freely share them. Everyone always needs a pen that actually works, and they always remember who hooked them up. → I celebrate tiny wins out loud. "Great point in that meeting!" or "That email was perfectly written!" People crave recognition, and giving it costs nothing but builds everything. → I remember random details people mention. Their kid's soccer game, their weekend plans, their favorite coffee order. When I follow up later, they feel genuinely seen and valued. → I always volunteer to take notes in meetings. Nobody wants to do it, but it makes me look engaged while giving me control over how information gets documented and shared. → I send "thinking of you" messages when colleagues are dealing with tough projects or personal stuff. A simple "How's that presentation coming along?" shows I care beyond just work tasks. → I bring snacks to share occasionally. Nothing fancy, just something everyone can grab. Food creates instant community and positive associations with your presence. The truth? Being appreciated at work isn't about being the smartest or most talented. It's about being the person who makes other people's days a little easier and brighter. These "silly" habits have gotten me better project assignments, stronger references, and genuine workplace friendships that lasted beyond job changes.
