I knew this day would come. But I was never ready for it. As the final whistle blew and Portugal walked off the pitch, it felt like a part of my childhood walked away too. For millions, he is just another footballer.
For me, he is the reason I fell in love with this beautiful game. I grew up celebrating every goal, shouting every SIUUUU, defending him in every debate, and believing that as long as Cristiano Ronaldo was on the pitch, nothing was impossible. At 41 years old, he was still fighting for the badge on his chest with the same passion he had as a teenager. That’s what made him different. The records he has! That’s what made him my GOAT. Today, Portugal’s World Cup journey ends against Spain. And if this was truly the last time we saw Cristiano Ronaldo wearing the red jersey of Portugal… Then thank you. Thank you for every goal that made us jump with joy.
Thank you for every tear, every comeback, every celebration, every impossible moment that somehow became possible because you were there. People will always argue about who the greatest is.
