📚📵🍎 How I Built Love for Books, Less Screen Time & Less Junk Food in My 6-Year-Old (No force. No fights. Just simple parenting shifts.) 1️⃣ I became the role model before becoming the rule Kids copy what they see, not what they’re told. So I reduced my own screen time, read more, and chose healthier snacks — before expecting it from my child. 2️⃣ I stopped forcing — and started exposing No pressure. No “padhna hi padega.” I simply kept books everywhere — bed, sofa, travel bag, car. Slowly, curiosity did the magic. 3️⃣ I made books FUN, not a task • Funny voices • Dramatic storytelling • Acting scenes • Asking questions Books became entertainment, not homework. 4️⃣ I replaced screen time, I didn’t just remove it Instead of “mobile band”, I offered: ➡ puzzles ➡ board games ➡ storytelling ➡ outdoor play ➡ art & crafts Connection always wins over correction. 5️⃣ I never used food or screens as rewards No “finish food = cartoon.” No “good behaviour = chocolate.” This builds emotional eating + screen addiction. 6️⃣ I involved my child in food decisions • Grocery shopping together • Choosing fruits • Cooking simple meals • Plating creatively When kids feel ownership, resistance reduces. 7️⃣ Healthy food was normalized, junk wasn’t banned No labeling food as “bad”. Junk became occasional, not daily. Result → No obsession. No craving battles. 8️⃣ I focused on routine, not rules Fixed times for: 📚 Reading 📵 Screen 🍽 Meals Routine creates habits effortlessly. 9️⃣ I chose consistency over perfection Some days had more screen. Some days had junk. And that’s okay. Consistency > Perfection 🔑 Biggest Parenting Truth: What you normalize becomes their lifestyle. 🤍 Final Note to Parents: If your child is addicted to screens, hates books or only eats junk — it’s never too late to reset. Small daily shifts create massive long-term habits. If this helped you, SAVE & SHARE with another parent 🤍 Which habit are you trying to build in your child? 👇
