Paradox of Lost Purpose by Sandeep Padam is a captivating science fiction, which keeps the readers hooked till the end. It is an intriguing read which requires our attention as we dive deeper into the book. The twists and turns make it an unputdownable read. The story is about a future where sentience transcends substrates. Society is stratified into 20 levels, with every entity, Organic or Mekha, starting at the bottom. Organics are grown in clone tanks and implanted with custom memories. Whereas, Mekhas — mobile algorithms, seek to incorporate organic components in their quest to become more organic-like. Now, the story revolves around Mic, a notorious rule-breaker with unknown motives, who manipulates a Level 18 Organic, into believing he's immersed in a game simulation and must journey to Earth. But Earth is no ordinary destination. It’s a restricted zone, scarred by alien wars and nuclear fallout, now obsessively protected by AIDM, a super AI evolved to defend the planet at all costs. Such a fascinating and engaging concept. It is a compelling read with memorable characters. I loved the world-building, which is filled with advanced technology and a complex social hierarchy. Overall, I loved this book and would strongly recommend it to all.
