At Shree Bering Nag Ji Temple in Sangla, I got to witness the beautiful celebration of Fag Mela. Men and women dancing together in front of their deity, folk songs echoing through the valley, the sound of dhol, and the whole village coming together. It didn’t feel like a performance, it felt like being part of something very real and very old. Standing there, watching everyone celebrate with so much joy and devotion, I realised these are the kind of Intangible Cultural Heritage practices (ICH) that keep the culture of Himachal alive. Traditions that are not written in books but lived and passed on by the people. Grateful that I could witness this through The Great Himalayan Exploration by Royal Enfield, a social mission that documents and celebrates these beautiful Himalayan traditions.
