You know what my best childhood memory is? Summer holidays at my nani ghar in Ghatshila, a quaint little town tucked away in the interiors of Jharkhand. The kuwa sal, the gaushala, the jhoola my nana tied to the big aam tree, the garden full of fruits and vegetables personally cared for by my Nanaji, water heated with wooden logs, the earthy fragrance of smoke, sleeping on the khatiya under a sky full of stars, and the irresistible aroma of samosas and jalebis wafting from my nana’s hotel—every little detail is etched in my heart. But life happened. All five mamas moved out, and the house… it stayed behind. I returned after almost 15 years, this time with my kids. The moment I stepped in, a tornado of memories came rushing back. And to my joy, I saw my children enjoy Ghatshila just as much as I once did—running behind goats, patting the cows, drawing water from the well, igniting a traditional wood-fired stove, plucking fruits straight from the trees. The house is now 100 years old, but the memories? They’re still fresh, as if it was just yesterday. ✨ If you could relive one childhood summer holiday, where would it be? #childhoodmemories❤️ #nanighar #gaonkaghar #backtoroots #nostalgia #nanikaghar #ghatshila
