Shimga is one of the most important traditional festivals celebrated across the Konkan region of Maharashtra. It marks the arrival of summers and is closely connected to Holi, but in Konkan it carries deeper village traditions and rituals. During Shimga, villages come alive with dhol, traditional dances, folk performances, and community celebrations. One of the most special moments is the Palkhi procession, where the village deity is taken out of the temple and carried through the village to bless everyone. People gather with devotion, music, and celebration as the gods come out to give their blessings to the entire village.
