A 22-year-old woman from Delhi survived a harrowing ordeal after she was forced to hide in a forest overnight to escape a predatory taxi driver near Nainital. The woman had hired a private cab from Haldwani to Nainital around midnight. According to the police, the driver, who appeared to be inebriated, diverted the vehicle from the main highway onto a secluded link road near Patwadangar. When the driver attempted to sexually assault her, the woman fought back, managed to bolt from the car, and disappeared into the dense, dark forested hills. She spent the entire night crouching in the wilderness to evade the driver, who eventually fled the scene. It was only on Friday morning, March 6, that she was spotted by a local resident who helped her reach the Tallital police station.
