I got invited to an exhibition while eating bhel on the street two days ago. - I’d met @shomow once before and he’d told me he’d traced his own family roots back some 800 years. - I didn’t know him, couldn’t remember his name and had no idea what his exhibition on “migration between Lucknow & Calcutta” might be like. - It sounded intriguing. I had a Sunday morning available and @panushwari was happy to spend it with me 🙌 - What a fab body of work built over 8 years ! It focussed on Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and the characters and symbols around him. - @studiobarikolkata is his multi storied home, half of which is filled with the exhibit. - He walked us through the 1700s and 1800s and the stories both real and imagined across the colonial/local fence. - Unique in its telling and beautiful in its form. I would highly recommend this if your excitement is history. 👑
