Exploring the Chettinad region was on my travel wishlist for a long time and I knew that I'd stay at @thebangala whenever I went. Bangala is a family-run hotel in Karaikudi, the heart of Chettinad, built on a property that has been with the family for over 100 years. The extensive property retains its Chettinad charm, with beautiful spacious rooms, old-style furniture, extensive verandahs, and is also equipped with a swimming pool and a library. What the Bangala is renowned for is the food they serve. It is the ultimate destination for authentic Chettinad cuisine. The food for me was a revelation! If you go to Chettinad, stay here. The people are extremely warm, the hospitality is unmatched.
