This system works well during earthquakes by resisting both axial tension and compression, which is different from traditional braces. The YBS was designed using a displacement-based approach, and its performance was checked in RC buildings during earthquake conditions. The best part is that the paper clearly explains how to follow performance-based design and how to understand the building’s behavior through the results. I have tested buildings of different heights (6, 9, and 12 stories) with this system to see how it performs in the Indian seismic zone context. The fragility curves and IDA results show that YBS gives better performance and can make buildings safer during earthquakes.
