Have seen a temple with just stacked up blocks of stones? At Kakanmath Temple - a ruined 11th century Shiva Temple, located at Sihoniya in Madhya Pradesh, I saw something like that – a temple precariously standing in a frame of blocks of stones. Trust me, this temple will sweep you off your feet! It seems like a stack of building blocks of stones that defies gravity! It was built by the Kachchhapaghata ruler Kirttiraja. Only a part of the original temple complex now survives. The remaining structure lies in ruins, strewn haphazardly throughout the temple grounds. Plans are underway to carefully disassemble the existing structure, stone by stone from top of the structure, with each block meticulously numbered. The aim is to embark on a comprehensive reconstruction of the entire temple. But before that do plan to visit as there wouldn’t be another like this in our lifetime.
