Rating: 2.5/5 Dark Verse #6 (Finale) Saying goodbye to a beloved series is hard. Saying goodbye like this hurts even more. The Syndicater was meant to be the perfect finale - the book that ties together every character, every arc, every mystery. Instead, it ended up being messy, uneven, and emotionally frustrating, especially for a series that has given us SO much brilliance before. Let me be clear: this book is not unreadable, and it’s not the worst thing ever written like some reviews claim. There ARE scenes here that deserve 5 stars. Part 1 was genuinely excellent - tight writing, high tension, and one of the best reunions I’ve ever read. Seeing it from other POVs instead of just Tristan or Luna was a great choice, and Tristan breaking down completely shattered me. For a moment, I truly believed this finale would soar. But then… it didn’t. Part 2 dragged painfully. The pacing slowed to a crawl, the focus became uneven, and 4 back-to-back smut chapters completely killed the momentum. By the time the plot finally picked up, the resolution was rushed to the point of emotional whiplash. The epilogues? Genuinely awful. Important character endings were reduced to single lines, major deaths happened off-page, and years of emotional investment were brushed aside. It felt careless. Character-wise, this hurt the most. Tristan and Morana were sidelined. Morana carried strength, intelligence, and independence, yet her pain often went unnoticed, even by Tristan. And Tristan not seeing her suffering? That felt wildly out of character. Dante & Amara had almost no purpose. Alpha & Zephyr were barely present. Dainn & Luna went from compelling to exhausting. Xander, somehow, ended up being one of the most emotionally grounded parts of the book - which says a lot. There were too many plot holes, rushed twists, and unresolved arcs for this to be a satisfying finale. This didn’t feel like the Runyx who wrote The Predator, The Emperor, The Annihilator. I still love this series. I always will. That’s why this ending hurts so much. Sometimes loving something also means admitting it deserved better. #TheSyndicater #DarkVerseSeries #RunyxBooks #DarkRomance #SeriesFinale
