Anecdote. FULL TEXT: I’ve known my sexuality since I was in class 8 I guess. The first person I had to tell was myself. It wasn’t a big deal for me really, because girls are so beautiful, right? So naturally, I thought I might be a lesbian. Then I thought about all the crushes I’ve had on guys, that lead me to believe I might just be admiring women instead of crushing on them. I had no idea what bisexuality really meant because it wasn’t necessarily something we were introduced to in school or even at home. I remember researching for a whole night, coming to the conclusion that I am in fact bi. When I was 15, I decided I want to start telling people, I did not want my persona to be cocooned around my sexuality so I went as far as I could from my social circle. The first people I told were my parents saying I might marry a girl in the future, to which they very cockily responded that they knew this would happen someday. After this I realised I really didn’t need to broadcast it to anyone else because it was my own business. If I want to date a girl, I don’t need anyone’s approval or acceptance. The only other person I told proactively was my boyfriend. To which he responded “So now I’ll have to worry about girls hitting on you too?” All my friends kind of knew, everyone who mattered knew and just like that, it was deemed as normal as being straight is, just how it should be.
