Malshej Ghat is one of the mountain passes in Western Ghats region of India. It is a motorable pass like Varandha, Bhor, Thal, Tamhini, Amboli Ghats. Malshej Ghat initially had to be trekked or climbed via Bhoj darya when the road was not constructed. However after the road came to light the traditional route went into oblivion. How ever one can still trek the old route but it is unsafe due to rock falls and landslides which frequently occurs during monsoon. Malshej Ghat was used by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to gain access to deccan plateau via Bhojgiri to Sindola/Shindola Fort. Malshej Ghat has some of the high peaks of Sahyadri like Harishchandragad. Naneghat is also a non motorable pass located nearby. Malshej Ghat was constructed for the transport of goods and people but now has become a tourist destination with myriad of visitors during monsoon. Malshej Ghat is also famous for its numerous waterfalls and plateau view with high wind speeds and clouds. There is only a single tunnel appx 100m in length in overall ghat.
