“I never planned to have a child, as I was busy focusing on my career and other things. But fate had other plans. And I am thankful that my daughter came into my life, as her birth gave me the time to pursue my passion for ‘art & craft’, which led to the beginning of my new journey, ‘#flatlaywithbabyM’. In the wake of the pandemic, this was my attempt to create pictures that tell stories by capturing images of my baby. When she was asleep, I used fabric, chart paper, and other hand-drawn props and placed them on the mattress to create the desired set. With a small baby, creating all of this was not easy. It required great precision and perseverance. When she was small, she didn’t fiddle much, but as she grew, she would roll over the bed and start chewing & playing with the props. But yes, we succeeded most of the time as she was asleep. I kept going with it in the hope that when my daughter grows up, she’ll feel happy to see all the love that she has got. And this hope, this thought, soon blossomed into another venture, ‘Art by Ivnat’ - a space for luxury handmade art and creative DIYs. At the time of pregnancy, I was 34 and was clouded with thoughts like, ‘Whether there’ll be any complications?’ ‘Whether I’ll be good or suck at this?’ ‘What will happen to my career & ambitions?’ This was mostly because people are of the view that once you have a baby, your personal life is over. This downhill thinking has been deeply rooted in our culture for ages. Earlier, women usually didn’t go to work and raising a family was their only full-time job (which they were absolutely best at). But today, things have changed, and it’s high time we move ahead of this regressive approach. After the birth of my daughter, we’ve grown into a fantastic unit - working together to create a life of our dreams. And I must admit, raising a child is one of the most beautiful things in the world and even more wonderful if you take it sportingly.” @tanvisparekh @thatartisticmom @artbyivnat #humansofhindustan
