Visited my alma mater for the first time after passing out of class X, 20 years to be precise. So this is the first time I got to see my name on the School Topper's Board. Also that meant visiting my childhood neighbourhood with my present family. I am not tooting my own horn but scoring 96.4% in 2003 was kind of a big deal. I was not only my school topper, but had also topped the state of Uttar Pradesh and 3rd position in All India CBSE. Academics definitely doesn't define anyone but it is an integral part in shaping one's personality, I believe. So while I don't run after my kids to score, I don't even want to ignore the fact that solid academic record is a sure path for a secure future (call me typical middle class 🤣). Strolling along the township with my husband and kids was lovely, as they got to know how I was brought up. Those endless cultural performances in the Officer's Club, parties on every occasion, festivals in the Mandir and non stop cycling everyday; are my best childhood memories. I am really grateful for my friends with whom I grew up, and of course the generous upbringing from my parents, courtesy of Indian Oil Corporation.
