“It started when I, a proper Delhi ki ladki, met Siddhant, a typical Marathi mulga, on shaadi.com. On our very first call, we spoke for 3 hours and realized we’re incredibly similar, both talkative, passionate about our work, and obsessed with travelling. In Siddhant, I found the perfect partner: mature, respectful, and responsible. With him, I could finally just let myself be. The only problem was the distance between Delhi-to-Mumbai. But honestly, that was nothing compared to the ‘Great Indian Family Drama’ that followed after we told our parents about us. Our parents weren’t happy because of the cultural differences. For an entire year, we were trying to convince families. There were tears, arguments, and even a brief breakup when the ‘future’ seemed impossible. But we were both the ‘rebels’ of our homes. He decided to put his foot down, and I held my ground. When we met each other's parents, they saw how happy we made each other and then we didn’t have to prove anything. Finally, in December 2025, our families met, and our roka happened. Just five days later, we headed to Bali. I had nagged him hundreds of times, asking, ‘Propose karoge bhi ya nahi?’ Yet what he planned was totally unexpected. In true ‘us’ fashion, we had a silly fight the moment we landed. Even as we geared up for scuba diving, I was scolding him for being ‘too adventurous.’ I had no idea that amidst our bickering, he was about to catch me completely off guard. Underwater, while a videographer kept me distracted, Siddhant appeared with a shell-shaped ring box he had customized for the proposal. He took out the ring, and popped the question, written on a poster, will you marry me? At that moment, the long distance, the struggle to convince our parents, and every hurdle we crossed flashed before my eyes. I just simply hugged him and said, “Yes!” And this December, I am finally trading Delhi's winters for Mumbai’s sea. When I look back at the last two years, I feel, ours is not just a match made in heaven, but it’s a match forged in the fire of choosing each other every single day, and we will do that for the rest of our lives.”
