Living Root Bridges (Meghalaya) These are natural bridges formed over generations by guiding the roots of the rubber tree across rivers and streams. The most famous is the Umshiang Double-Decker Root Bridge, located near Nongriat village in the Cherrapunjee of Meghalaya. Villagers use ropes to guide the roots of the rubber trees, which then knit together and strengthen over time to form a sturdy, living structure. Reaching these bridges involves a strenuous trek, often involving thousands of steps ! What do you think is it worth to walk this much of stairs / steps upward to see the nature’s living root bridge?
