I was diagnosed with multiple fibroid, a couple as large as a tennis ball in the uterus. Having fibroid is most common phenomenon with women of reproductive age (as doctors usually inform you) but each fibroid behavior varies. For me, I am thalassemia minor, it was consuming life blood in excess and was suffering from excessive painful cycles. Something, most commonly told us to bear as a part of life, which is ABSOLUTELY WRONG. For us, the choice was simple - either to keep developing these fibroid to eventually give a chance to become cancerous or remove the uterus completely. Removing your reproductive organ in the prime age is challenging, it's more mental than physical. There are so many myths attached to it. Finally, as a couple we took the call. I had Laparoscopic hysterectomy with bilateral salpingectomy, which involves removing the uterus and both fallopian tubes through keyhole surgery, on 22nd March. It's a minimal invasive surgery offering benefits like smaller incisions and faster recovery compared to traditional open surgery. I am under recovery for 2 weeks, and in the future would be creating informative content on this topic. Thank you for your messages, calls, and sending positive vibes. Means a lot to us. Keep me and my family in your prayers. [Anemia, laparoscopic Hysterectomy, women's health, uterus, reproduction, thalassemia minor]
